The tools and ease of use of Holdem Manager will allow you to gain more knowledge of your table, and also give you the ability to use that newly found knowledge to make better decisions. When first starting off using Holdem Manager 2, you may find it to be a bit daunting with so many numbers floating on the screen, but after you get used to it, and truly understand what the numbers mean, you will be fine and better for it.
Interpreting the Numbers
One of the numbers and the most useful number to use is the pre-flop raise of a certain player at the table. This number is a percentage that tells you over time how often the player will put in a raise before the flop. This is an important number to know because you can instantly determine who the aggressive players are compared to the passive players. It makes your decisions significantly easier if you know a passive player has fired three shells at a pot compared to an aggressive player firing three bets at the pot.
Another important feature of Holdem Manager 2 to know during game play is a player’s 3 betting percentages. If a player 3 bets an abnormal amount of times before the flop they are going to bleed some chips in the long run, and with this feature you can pick those players out. When you pick out a super aggressive pre-flop 3 bettor, you can put in 4 bets before the flop or also play back at them post flop. This is a great number to know and it will make you avoid becoming stuck in a pot; not knowing whether to call a 3 bet, fold, or 4 bet.
Most players like Holdem Manager 2 because it tracks all of your hands played. With you knowing exactly how much you make per session, you can track your long term results more accurately. A solid feature is an EV graph to tell you how well you have been running in the short or long term. This graph will show what you actually earned playing poker and what you were expected to earn. If you were expected to earn more, then you are running badly. If you were expected to earn less when the money went in, then you are running well.
Another nice feature is you can see every hand that you have ever played. This is great for reviewing, improving and analyzing your game. If you haven’t won a significant amount with big pocket pairs, you can look over hands and see why. If you have lost a lot of money with certain pairs or hands, you can also see why. This is a great feature of Holdem Manager 2 and one that you should utilize. It will allow you to grow as an online poker player in the future.
