Five Card Draw Rules

Five Card Draw is the classic game seen on those good-old fun Cowboy movies, where Maverick would pull that magical Ace out of nowhere for a Royal Flush… you just don’t see those type of movies anymore.

If you are familiar with Five Card Stud, you don’t need to read any further – Go and play the game now, and relive this classic poker game.

FIVE CARD DRAW RULES

In this Draw game, you’ll be playing with blinds – quite similar to Texas Holdem to be honest.

  • We start off with the small and big blind like most poker games. The dealer then deals five cards to each player – clockwise, one by one -, and a betting round begins with the player left of the big blind, either calling, folding, or raising.
  • Once the round of betting is done, the players have an option to swap (draw) cards.
  • With the new cards at hand (if any), a new betting round begins with the first player to the left of the button.
  • Finally, it is time for the Showdown. The player with the best (strongest) 5-card poker hand wins.

Go see our available Poker Hand Rankings if you are not familiar with them.

WHERE TO PLAY FIVE CARD DRAW

If you know the poker basics, which nowadays is knowing how to play Texas Holdem, you’ll find Five Card Draw to be extremely simple and fast paced. All you have to do now is play the game.
