Default Online Backgammon

I have been playing online backgammon lately. I play on www.gammonempire.com

Seems like a pretty good website. Around 10000 players online at nights (night, Europe time). Most players are European. Alot of Danish, German, and Israelis as well as Greeks, and Turks play there.

I personaly enjoy playing against the Israelis - Worse players in general (not all of them though).

You can play as low as $0.50 a game (you can play with play money too) or as high as $500 a hand. I have personaly played $0.50 a game and up and today I played $200 a hand for the first time.

I am reading couple backgammon books right now. I will make posts on what I think are important strategies here.

Cheers,
Nima[/u][/list]

it seems like there is optimal strategy in backgammon that a bot can employ. therefore, playing for profit is not going to work.. Especially at higher limit games

A computer can certainly play backgammon better than it can play poker. However, I'm not sure how easy it is to create a bot that can master such a complex game. It can certainly be done, but I doubt there are any internet bots that are that sophisticated. Either way, I would hope that online backgammon sites are taking steps to protect their players from such programs, no matter how well those programs play.

I like Play65 for backgammon.

There are definetly backgammon bots on these sites, but if your playing $20 games or less I wouldn't worry about it. Also, if you're a very good player I wouldn't worry about it either.

I also used to play backgammon. But I never really played online for money. I used to play on some free site and backgammon that came with the computer to connect with other online players. But it sucked because if you were winning the online people would just sign off.
