I play at the Peppermill in Reno, NV and used to play the 4-8, 10-20 game until they spread the 1-2 NL. Now that is all I play w/1 exception. The 2-3-5 NL game.

Both NL games can be exceptionally rewarding while limiting one's losses. Has anyone else sat in on 1-2 NL and, if so, what's your opinion?

how big is their poker room? what games and blinds do they spread? how is the competition at around 10/20 and 20/40? What is the percentage of local players compared to the tourists?

Poker room is about 16 tables with a never ending $40 tourney for a seat in next year's WSOP - all expenses paid. Competition at 10/20 is easy if one is willing to sit and wait and watch the few regulars and get a read on how they play. Generally, if they have one paint they are in. The 20/40, for now at least, starts Fri at 5p.m. and runs all weekend. In fact, the 10/20 automatically becomes the 20/40 on Friday night.

they also have 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 and the 1-2NL and 2-3-5NL. They will spread anything anyone agrees to. They will let the players play any limit they wish. All there has to be is a consensus and it's a go.

Mostly locals except for the big events - Reno Rodeo, Hot August Nights (vintage cars), Hot Air Balloon Races, Street Vibrations (motorcycles of all shapes, sizes and stripes) and Reno Air Races. These events swell Reno to a good sized city.

conventions bring in a few tourists from as far away as China. The CA college crowd also shows up on some weekends.

All in all you will have a good mix. The beauty is the friendliness of the staff. Mike has trained them to bend over backwards for the players and let them dictate the limits.

I sound like a one man convention bureau but I really like the place. You don't have to worry either that you will be jacked around because you ain't a local.
