how many prefer full-ring, or prefer 6-max, and which do you find more profitable.

I play FR, I have not reallt spent much time at 6-max at all, but I have heard a higher win rate is possible at 6-max but with much higher variance. I also play a pretty tight game and would need some serious adjustments to play 6-max.

It really depends what I am doing - if I am grinding then full ring for the win. But if I am at a higher stake table bet reading then I prefer six seat.

I generally find full ring grinding to be more profitable - but it gets really boring real quick.

Well, a full ring is more profitable if you are running multiple windows (and who isnt?!). But if you arent sitting at a microlimit game, a 6 seater is the way to go. Its a lot less people to get a read on. Take notes, tighten up (but not too tight with only 6 seats), and look for the fishes.

Keep in mind, its a much different fish at a 6max. In a smaller limit full table, you have a lot more fish, but they are little ones. At a 6max, youre more likely to find a bigger fish, someone with a small bankroll, some degree of skill, and a far overinflated view of his own skills.

I think you'll find over the long haul, a 6max is going to be a very profitable table for you.

Unless you're the fish.

I have lately really enjoyed short handed games that are results of full tables going down slowly late at nights (im talking at live poker rooms)...

Most players are tired and used to the full table game feel, so if you can change your games and adjust to the game, you can make some good money

Personally I prefer full ring but it totally depends on your playing style.

In a 6-max game your opponents are less likely to hold better cards than you since only twelve have been dealt, as opposed to 18-20 in a FR game. Because of this, 6-max tends to reward more aggressive playing.

Full Ring is more profitable for the tighter player. Personally I'm quite a nit, I'll fold AQo under the gun more times than not. Obviously you have to be tight-aggressive but if you're a super-aggro player you should play 6-max.
