Here's a hand that could be scary but just goes to show the crap some people play and how sometimes its correct to make these kind of plays with a decent read.

Not to say I outplayed him but I put him on a small pocket pair, and this guy really was crazy, as I had observed in several pots, amd I reasoned that the risk to reward was in my favor.

Would it be alright to push all-in before the flop? This type of player will call with many hands that you can beat. Going all-in also keeps you from having to make difficult decisions after the flop. This seems like an amateurish move, but it might be effective against maniacs, who are usually difficult to read. Any thoughts?

all in preflop would definately be the better move. my call was just one of those quick decisions where I was like, "well, #@&@ it", but a preflop push would have been better.
