View Full Version : Have online games become noticably tougher since the Neteller debacle?

I posted a similar poll (http://www.pokereagles.com/poker-forum/showthread.php?t=716)a while before the UIGEA passed. Internet games had become harder to beat, probably because good players could make decent money multi-tabling with smaller bankrolls at lower stakes. I didn't notice much difference after Party and other sites stopped doing business with US customers. The fish just moved to other sites and the games got even better.

The Neteller pullout dealt quite a blow to online poker. Some players have complained about the games drying up. I haven't noticed much difference. The games may have become slightly tougher, but I still find many bad players. I see a lot of good players on a regular basis, but it only takes one or two live ones to make a game profitable. All you have to do is make adjustments for the better players (I'll post more about these adjustments in the Limit Hold'em forum).

I suppose a lot depends on the particular games you play. I've found that the full-handed $2/$4 and $3/$6 LHE games on Full Tilt are still beatable if you exercise good game selection. What are your thoughts?

I have not noticed much change in the quality of play yet at all, but I think this is a situation where more time is needed for the effect to be felt. Many weaker players have not had enough time yet for their bankroll to dry up yet, and therefore they are still playing, but might be leaving not to return in the future if more deposit methods that are convienant are not provided soon.

I think the games have gotten tougher, especially the $5/$10 up to $15/$30 shorthanded limit games... That could also be because shorthanded is becoming so popular nowadays and everyone is studying about it...

But I think Mr.Fivestrings is right, more time is needed to see the real affect.

I signed up for the other deposit method, but i didnt like it at all, since it takes so long, asked for my SSN with no SSL (secure) website and some other reasons...

We'll see how things go

I think that it has been a big dropoff. However i did read something the other day that the US according to the World Trade Organizations is going to have to change their law on Poker. Who knows how long it will actually take but it is going to happen.

I have seen some difference lately, The peak numbers for pokerstars seems to have dropped a little and I have noticed some 1/2 players dropping down to .50/1. Here is a site that tracks player numbers pre/post uigea and Neteller. http://pokersitescout.com/
