You are on the button with 9:diamonds:9:spades:. Everyone folds to you. You raise, the small blind folds, and the big blind calls. The big blind is a loose-aggressive player who almost always defends his blinds. He seems to assume that anyone who open-raises from late position is raising with trash. The flop comes A:diamonds: 2:hearts: 9:hearts:, giving you a set of nines. The big blind checks and you bet. The big blind raises. What do you do?

Just call. Now is a good time to slow down. If you re-raise, your opponent may just call and check the turn. If you call, he will bet the turn and you can raise. By calling, you gain an extra big bet instead of one more small bet.
