You hold Q:clubs:J:clubs: in the big blind. The game is loose, with a mix of passive and aggressive players. The player to your left, who is loose and aggressive, raises. Three players, including the small blind, call. You call. The pot contains 10 small bets. The flop comes Q:spades: J:hearts: 3:hearts:. You have top two pair. The small blind checks. What do you do?

Do not slowplay here! Your hand is extremely vulnerable to straight and flush draws. Bet and hope that the player to your left raises. You want to drive other players out of the pot or make them pay extra to draw. Ed Miller's Small Stakes Hold'em features a great discussion of how to protect your hand.

Hi;

I'm new to this forum and I'm going trough all hand quizzes (hey, nothing to do at job today!). I play 3-6 limit at the montréal casino (Yeah, it's brand new here in Quebec!!) and read Small stakes hold'em.

Most of the time I agree or understand your play, but this time it's a little bit trickier.

Obviously you'll never drive out a flush draw or straith draw in this pot, but since you bet and hop the guy on your left will raise is'nt it better to just try a check raise since it is likely the loose and agressive preflop raiser will bet anyway?

english is not my first language so sorry if some thing are difficult to understand.

Thanks!
