View Full Version : Limit Texas Holdem Quiz #15, Question Two
You open-limp from early position with K:diamonds:J:diamonds:. The cutoff calls, the small blind completes, and the big blind checks. The pot contains four small bets. The flop comes 10:clubs: 7:diamonds: 9:spades:, giving you a double-gutshot straight draw, two overcards, and a backdoor flush draw. The small blind checks, the big blind bets, and you call. The cutoff raises. The small blind folds and the big blind calls. You call. The turn is the Q:diamonds:, giving you the nut straight and the second-nut flush draw. The big blind checks. What do you do?
Go for a check-raise. You should not be worried about giving a free card if the cutoff checks. He will most likely bet again. The big blind may fold if you bet and the cutoff raises. You want to keep him in the hand and gain an extra bet if he calls the cutoff on the turn. You can extract two additional bets if both players call your check-raise.
You are in perfect position for check-raise. The guy after you raises, everyone else calls and you raise again.
Most players feel pot commited and call you down.

Is betting is a mistake here or it is just less powerfull than the check-raise?
Thanks!
