You hold heart9 heartQ

You are playing a $10-$20 NL with $2000 chip stacks.

You are first to enter the pot from button.

You raise to $60. The big blind is agressive to some extend and he likes to make reads and act on it (and then brag bout it).

Flop comes:

diamondA spade9 club5

The pot contains $130.

Your opponent checks. You decide to bet. What should you bet?

Would you bet at all?

depends

what is your normal c-bet frequency and amount?

I said 90...

I like 1/2 pot c-bets on dry boards, b/c it doesn't commit very many chips to get an idea of where i am (basic idea of DH's probe bets)

I think I'm only scared of Ax or a set of 5's here -everything else that beats me is 3-betting PF (especially out of position)

--

If he loves to check/raise the flop, i'd hold my betting off until the turn -even if he does it with air, it's hard to call..

If he rarely three-bets pf, i'd also check

The answer is between $100 and $120.

You have to bet. That is for sure. If you show weakness he will buy the pot from you.

Secondly, It is important to bet the right amount, If you bet too big and you are beat, he will call you down all the way and you will pot commited to call decent amount raises from him too.

If you bet too small he will blug check-raise you (correctly) and take the pot down from you. (as you would have to fold).

between $100 and $120 is more than average (enough to stop a bluff check-raise) and not big enough to get you pot commited.

Let me add a point that may be cogent. What do you believe is his perception of you? When I first looked at the choices, 170 struck me between the eyes. If he thinks you are loose, he'll cal the 100 to 120. If he thinks you are tight, he won't call the 100 to 120 and won't call the 170 for sure.
