What are your reasons for playing poker? Do you just really enjoy it and do it for fun? Are you trying to make money? Do you have higher aspirations of going pro? Or is a combination of all of them?

I really enjoy it and most of the time I play for fun... like online. When I play Friday nights, I play for fun, but also for money. But some day I would really like to go pro. I want to play in the WSOP... not just the main event. I know it will take awhile... and I'll also have to wait until I have the money, but that's just something I'd really like to do. So its a combination of it all for me.

It’s a combination of it all for me, too. I play with friends for fun and sometimes for money. Online it’s only about the money. I don’t have any wishes to go pro for now. I play poker just to get some money in my free time, so I am combining fun and money together. Maybe it will become something more in future, but for now I don’t have any bigger plans. :)

Yeah, I wonder how many people just start out for fun with no intentions of more and end up going pro because they start to do well and really enjoy themselves. Then again, I'm sure going pro and playing poker as a job can be just like any other job... monotonous. I'm sure some people get bored with, but I just don't think I could ever get bored with poker. I'd love to play poker as a job.

You could lose your life doing that, unless you could really keep your cool, and have enough money to lose.

That's the thing... I wouldn't necessarily play to the point where I could go broke. I would obviously make sure I have enough income to blow or to build upon. I'm just really passionate about playing. But trust me, I'd never lose myself like some people do getting caught up in gambling, because its not like that for me, and because I still have a family to support. I'm just talking about way down the line, what I hope for.

Keep it that way. I know a lot of people that gambled all money, cars, houses,... that they had. You have to use your head if you want to be something in this game or don't even try.

Yeah, I completely understand. Those people are just doing it for the gambling aspect though. I really don't even like to gamble, I just love to play poker. The difference is that the people who are just playing to gamble, are in it for the thrill of a win. Its about luck to them. To me, its about reading people, the odds of each hand, really trying to make good decisions. There is bound to be a little bit of luck involved, but the more I play and learn, the more skill the game demands.
