alright, here's what happened,im in a limit hold em pvt game- the players have been wittled down to 2-i bet max bet after river-opponent delays and simulates call by picking up his chips from his previous call on the turn( located in front of him) and tossing them into center of pot--i in turn curse because i had a 9 high-he reads my body language/curse and as a result throws in the bet and beats me with jack high---I had a gut shot straight flush draw and he had a gut shot straight draw-anyway-Does this move violate rules of poker? Is it cheating? Where can i find printed rule to show that this shit was unacceptable?

its not against any rules, you just gotta keep your cool..

However, what he did wasn't something that would be acceptable poker etiquette,

But that just makes him an asshole not a cheater

If he puts his chips in the center he has bet - I'm confused.

he threw his chips into the center of the pot that were already in the pot (from the turn)but located very near to him ,thus making it appear that he had called on the river.Three of the six players not involved thought he had called.I bitched like hell the next day and we ended up splitting the pot ,but Ive been playing for years and ive never seen this move so everyone should pay attention-obviously this move wouldn't work in a casino

if you are in a casino and your chips are in front of your cards at the table, it is considered in the pot.

Most of the time if the chips are too close to yourself the dealer doesn't enforce that rule, but there is a rule like that.

Oh, I see. That's a sneaky one.

That depends on how close they were to him and if he said "call" and the rules of that particular card room...

Still a gutsy call with only Jack high, you could have been "bluffing" with as little as mid pair depending on the board texture.
