Should I at least call to see flop?

If you 7-8 of the same suit and the bet a notch higher than the big blind, should i call just to see what's in the flop?

I would say it depends on how the betting is preflop. I usually play suited connectors until I see the flop. If the betting is outrageous I fold. But everyone plays differently.

Stack sizes play a big part in this, as does position.

And whether it's a tourney or cash game.

It depends on the amount and position. For example, if I paid the blind already and someone raised after that a notch more, then sure I would call. But if they raised a large amount, I might have folded.

Are we talking cash game, or tournament? Do you have any info on the raiser: what does he raise with, does he stack off light?

Right, there was not enough info provided. Depending on your stack size and the size of the BB/raise, I would like to get into the pot, just to see the flop. If a person is raising just the minimum it usually means they have a-k, a-q, k-q, etc. Or, the other times I see it happen are when someone has A-A, trying to induce a call. I think I would call it, again, depending on the above factors.

I have to agree with what everyone has already mentioned. Stack size and position are definite factors, as are the playing styles of my opponents. And, I play tourneys much differently than ring games. Of course, I'd love to see a flop if I've got suited connectors, but at what risk? In no-limit, especially, I consider my hole cards with the thought in mind that someone may go all-in at any time, even preflop. I've folded suited connectors that would have taken the pot if I'd stayed in until the river, but that's just a part of gambling.
