Full Tilt Poker Rake & Player Points

September 30th, 2010

Full Tilt Poker has changed the way that they calculate rake per player.  Previously Full Tilt calculated rake on the dealt method which means as long as you were dealt a hand you generated a portion of the rake.  Full Tilt Poker has just switched to the Weighted Contributed method which means only players that have contributed to the poker pot will see a share of the rake.  In our view this will really help out players in the long run as this is rewarding players for playing as opposed to just folding every hand.

Full Tilt Poker has also announced a change in the way Player Points are generated.  Additionally you can now earn player points in all cash games, multi table tournaments & sit and go’s.  The way you generate the points is easier to understand and more straight forward.  Each poker table that deals a hand will be given 10 points and those 10 points will be equally split between all players at the table that was dealt a hand.

Sit & Go Basics

September 17th, 2010

Sit and Go Tournaments are one of the most basic poker forms to learn. A typical format for a S&G requires you to plop down a predetermined amount of money, and battle it out with 9 other players for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prize money.

There are three factors that will dictate what type of strategy you employ: the blinds and antes, your chip stack, and the payout structure. In this post I am going to focus on how the blinds and ante structure will dictate what hands you should play.

Boiled down to its most basic premise poker is a battle for the blinds and antes. You are waging war for what is in the pot. Therefore, the more money in the pot; the harder you should fight for it. S&G tournaments have an escalating blind structure; what this means is that as the tournament progresses the blinds and antes increase, which means you should be more willing to fight.

Importance of Poker RakeBack

September 16th, 2010

If you are new to poker you probably have not heard of rakeback before.  Rakeback is the ability to get a percentage of the rake you pay the poker site back each month.  This is essentially free money that you are leaving on the table by not signing up for a rakeback deal.  Here is an example of why rakeback is extremely important.  Let’s say you are playing at a table with 10 people.  The pot reached $100 and the poker site will most likely take $3 as their rake for hosting the game.  You divide $3 by 10 and that comes out to $0.30 per play.  So if you played that one raked hand then you basically paid the poker site $0.30.  Sure that does not sound like a lot but if you end up playing 10,000 raked hands a month that comes out to $3,000!  Now if you have a rakeback deal you can earn upwards of 40% of that back so that is $1,200 paid back to your poker account.  To get started with rakeback you need to sign up for a new poker site with a poker affiliate.  We highly recommend RakeBackCodes.com & 123RakeBack.com.
